EC-YP „Extended Choices for Young People“

The project "Extended Choices for Young People in Vocational Education and Training (EC-YP)" is funded by Erasmus+ (Key Action 2, Cooperation and Innovation for Good Practices) and coordinated by GEMS Nordern Ireland. There is cooperation with five other partner organizations: Ballymun Job Centre (Ireland), Antares (Italy), Edumark (Netherlands), TIME Associates (Northern Ireland) and TZS Sozialconsulting (Austria).

The EC-YP project started in September 2014 and lasted three years. The aim of the project was to further develop, adapt and apply a flexible support model for disadvantaged young people and those at risk of exclusion in order to improve the outcomes of vocational training measures and pave the way for lifelong learning for the target group.


EC-YP is intended to provide an adapted mentoring model that...

  • ascertains the actual situation of the participants and picks them up where they are at the moment
  • Represents a comprehensive approach that can flexibly adapt to the complex and changing needs of young people
  • the creation of a flexible and individual goal plan around the four areas of life,
    leisure, learning and work for each participant individually
  • individual support of the participant by means of a personal innovation and training fund and
    training fund and tailor-made job placements
  • encourages the participants to discover and promote their own potentials by
    their self-confidence and motivation for learning and work are increased
